Kora Flamenca II brought together the musical traditions of West Africa and flamenco for an intimate live performance at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre in Calgary.


Presented by the National Music Centre and Alliance Française Calgary, the concert featured Zal Sissokho on kora and vocals, Caroline Planté on flamenco guitar and vocals, and Miguel Medina on percussion.


Newtone Photography documented the evening from the audience’s arrival through the full performance, creating a visual record of the artists, the venue and the experience of live music in the space.

Our approach focused on both performance and context: individual portraits of the musicians on stage, wider compositions showing the ensemble and venue, audience reactions, architectural details and the quieter moments between songs.


The result is a varied collection that captures not only what happened on stage, but what it felt like to be there.


For cultural organizations and performers, strong event photography creates an archive that can continue to support promotion, media, programming and future events long after the performance ends.
